How the noble warrior Naoko feared across the seven realms, and Ciaran, the last Skyfaller, came to run a library, was anyone’s guess.

In the Seven Realms, the Library had great cultural significance. After the age of terror, a beacon of hope was welcomed. And a terrific light it was.

It was nestled in the foothills of a red-peaked mountain range. Ancient legends said they got their color because the countless streams running down their sides ran red with blood.

It’d been the fortress of a great warlord, the crown jewel in his sprawling conquered lands.

Now? Watchtowers jutted from the thick, high walls, shining with soft light, beckoning people closer. The caves and tunnels were turned into book storage after the library was built.

The front doors were solid wood, reinforced with steel. They were always open, and anyone who needed shelter was welcome. No questions asked.

Inside, it was one of the largest buildings in the Seven Realms, and it was crammed with books. There were ladders to reach the higher shelves, and comfortable chairs.

Small fires burned in the fireplaces, powered by a self-monitoring system.

Ciaran and Naoko ensured all creatures had access to the Library’s knowledge. The Library offered more than safety from the elements and roving bands of augmented robber clans.

The warrior Naoko and the Skyfaller Ciaran had seen their share of bloodshed. They had lost people they loved in the terror. In The Library, they found solace.

In the darkness of the Seven Realms, the Library was a beacon of hope. As long as the unlikely pair lived, it would shine.
