The Mara Files
How many books will there be in The Mara Files?
The first two books have been released, and there will be more in the future…
Can I get a signed book?
Of course! Book signing – Wherever whenever! If you’ve purchased a copy of my book, send me proof and I’ll send you a signed eBook of whichever one you’d like!
Where do you get your character names?
A lot of places. Most of my research is done on baby name sites. I’m convinced the traffic to those sites is half expectant parents and half writers! Sometimes I overhear names in conversation and write them down for future reference.
Hardly ever are my characters named after people I’ve met.
When you create your characters, is there a part of you in each?
There’s a bit of me in every character, though I don’t do it on purpose. It just happens.
When does the next book come out?
I’m hoping sometime in 2021 to release book #3 of The Mara Files.
What are you currently working on?

Can I email you?
if you want to reach me, do it through the contact form here. I look forward to hearing from you! But please don’t expect a reply immediately, I try my best.
Can you recommend any books?
Of course! Here’s a page full of them. Let me know if you read any of them!
If you could travel to a fictional world, where would you go & what would you do there?
I’d love to visit J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle Earth or the world of The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I’d explore all the amazing nature and places in Middle Earth, and in the world of the Lunar Chronicles I’d discover all the cool technology and visit Lunar.
Where did you get your inspiration?
Many different places, things I hear, media I see, conversations I have, music I listen to, my head making connections… Ideas are everywhere, you have to piece everything together.
Do you know where the story is going prior to writing it or create it as you go along?
I usually outline the basic plot before writing, making it up as I write never works. It changes drastically though, outlines are never rigid.
Do you have any advice for writers?
To write anything, you need ideas, and sometimes, they can come from everyday life. Here are some suggestions for gathering ideas.
- Carry a notebook and pen around dedicated to writing ideas. Or a pad of sticky notes, and add them to a journal later!
- Keep a diary and write anything and everything you wish in there, not just a daily record of events.
What’s your writing process?
I don’t know how to describe the way I write, I suppose the words come, I write them down, and keep going. I never edit until I’m finished.
Do you read fan fiction?
If you mean fan fiction based upon my books, no, for legal reasons and I don’t want to accidentally steal one of your ideas and put it into my story! However, I do love writing and reading all kinds of fan fiction, I’ve written a lot of Star Wars pieces.
You’re most welcome to write fanfiction from my stories, but please attribute the characters and original ideas to me, and share them for others to read for free. That equates to fair use. 🙂
